Global

At the recent World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Deutsche Post DHL CEO Frank Appel accepted the role as chairman of the Governors Meeting for the Logistics & Transport Industry Community, a position he will hold for one year. Representatives of leading logistics companies met in this forum at Davos to discuss such topics as a framework for world trade, anti-corruption measures and how to react to natural catastrophes. The logistics sector also agreed on standard guidelines for calculating consignment-level carbon emissions from logistics and shipping operations, to offer customers comparable information about climate protection.

DHL EXPRESS received a very special award, on the tenth birthday of the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) EMEA. DHL Express has 160 TAPA-certified facilities worldwide.
No other company provides that level of security. TAPA was set up to improve security during transport and
reduce loss through theft. In March 2010 the annual conference of TAPA EMEA has taken place at DPDHL’s headquarters in Bonn, Germany.

During a week of voluntary engagement, some 1,250 DHL employees in 15 Latin American countries devoted mind and muscle to help their communities. More than 40 projects were supported, ranging from healthcare and education, to environmental protection. Employees also distributed food and helped rebuild schools.

Asia Pacific
|
DHL employees in China dug deep into their own pockets to donate a total of RMB 500,000 (€49,000) for the rebuilding of a school in Sichuan Province that had been destroyed in the May 2008 earthquake. Hermann Ude, CEO Global Forwarding and Freight, broke ground at the site, along with local and regional company representatives and government officials.

Deutsche Post DHL has been honored with the German Sustainability Award in the category “most sustainable strategy.” The jury highlighted the Group’s readiness to take on responsibility for economic, environmental and social affairs, and the fact that it has incorporated these issues in its strategy. “Corporate responsibility is a strategic part of our business strategy and plays a major role in our economic success,” commented DP/DHL CEO Frank Appel in accepting the award.
